Not bad for a little hole in wall. Good ole country charm. They are very stingy with sauces? Not sure what's up with that? Great for take-out. Do not think it's really meant to be a sit down type place.

What kind of BBQ joint runs out of chicken AND beef before 2 p.pm .? My wife and I went on a Saturday drive and stopped in here based on Yelp reviews. We were VERY disappointed. They are open until 8 pm but by 2 o'clock, they were "out of" both pulled chicken and beef. We settled for pulled pork. It was dry, flavorless and not even hot when served. The two bottles of BBQ sauce at the outdoor communal table were dirty, sticky and almost empty. The "Carolina" sauce was simply white vinegar and some form of heat. No flavor, just acid and hot. The other (unlabeled) bottle contained a mediocre sauce that at least moistened the pork. It was not inedible, but it was also not enjoyable. My wife ordered potato salad as a side. It consisyed of chunks of potato combined with mashed egg yolk and atiny dab of mayonnaise or salad dressing. (There wasn't enough to distinguish its origin.) The only saving grace was the onion rings. They were crisp, hot, well-fried and hot.

Best biscuits and gravy in the whole state of Georgia. Love the Johnsons and the regulars, feels like home.

This place is well off the beaten path. Was on a motorcycle trip and stopped in to eat. You order at the register and pay then find your seat. I enjoyed the old time atmosphere with the antique wood stove but the staff never really checked on me. Wasn't a good dinner experience. The food was ok but I've had alot better bbq and it was over priced. I give it 3 stars for the warm and cozy atmosphere but the bbq needs work and the staff needs to smile every now and again

Great place!! My neice brought us here for dinner & we loved it so much we came back for breakfast! Such a cool & unique restaurant. Everyone was so friendly. Biscuits & gravy were to die for!!

Came here just looking for some good BBQ and I got what I was looking for. Great pulled pork for a pretty average price. The food was cooked quickly and was hot and fresh. If your looking for traditional southern BBQ then Amos's is the place to go.

Other then a cater only bbq place that used to come to my old work on Saturdays, this is the best BBQ place I have been since I have moved to GA! Other then the great bbq and trimmings, the atmosphere was really neat. Small homey place that appears to have been an old style home, very rustic and lots of old antiques to look around at!

Cool little place with a unique history (the building). Owner wakes every morning to make fresh biscuits from scratch! Overall the food is good but a little above average on price. Overall I would highly recommend the drive into the country for the unique experience.

We found this place because we were invited to Farm Fresh Butchers, just across the street (it by the way is 5 star too) So we wanted take out and walked up to the takeout. This was a small mistake, as the annunciator is hard to activate by stomping on it. We came about 3:30 PM I ordered a pint of pulled pork. My wife indicated she wanted ribs. I got a half slab. These come sans sauce. The pulled pork was $10.60, the half slab was $23.31, both with tax. The pulled pork was really pulled not cut. The flavor was great with a strong pork flavor with a mild smoke flavor. The best I have every enjoyed. The ribs were the same. Very meaty, indeed probably the meatiest I have ever enjoyed. The sauce, tomato based had hints of molasses and hot. I prefer Tom's Barbeque in Fort Lauderdale, but Amos's is a close 2nd. Although the address is Ball Ground, it is about 9 miles East of the town proper, which makes it 15 miles off of I575. It is well worth the drive. My wife and I have scoured the South, looking for great barbeques. We have probably been to over 200 in the past years. This is the best. Well worth the drive from Atlanta. I used to have a strong prejudice against white owned and operated barbeques. Amos BBQ has gone a long way to extinguish that prejudice.

This is one of my favorite bbq restaurants. Located in an old house it has a divey feel. Food and sauces are phenomenal. Dont miss out. Very busy on the weekends, so plan on a wait but remember good things take time.

Stopped by with family for lunch on Saturday. Very busy, which is good sign. Cool old place, simple country food. Friendly staff and great baby back ribs. Tater salad was ok, fried okra was good but ribs are the story. Must try for sure. This is old country southern BBQ place, if you are looking for an upscale fake BBQ place then don't come here. They have drive through as well, kind if amazing.

I frequent here for breakfast, the tenderloin, egg, cheese biscuits are phenomenal! ! As well as their brownies. The BBQ is average, sauces are the same. On this evening, the staff seemed very disorganized. Mornings when John (the owner) run much smoother. The country decore is inviting and on cold mornings, they run the woodstove. If you're looking for a great country breakfast, this is definitely your place!!! Please don't discount the BBQ either. It is good, just like what you would find at your average joint.

[TL;DR] A decent, neighborhood BBQ spot that also serves breakfast. It's somewhere you want to go in the warmer months, which I'll get to in a second. /ATMOSPHERE Well, it's it's not warm out, you're going to find it interesting to get a seat inside. There are 4 or 5 tables inside that pack up if it's cold out. Fear not though, they have a drive-thru. The whole place on the outside is really quaint. It gives you a nice, warm country style feeling. /FOOD Nothing particularly above decent BBQ in either the BBQ or the sauces. I got the Stuffed Tater which was just a bit bland and too sweet. I'd try it again but would probably get the BBQ sauce on the side and add a little salt. One detraction is the coffee and tea are run tthrough the same system. I guess I'm particular about my coffee. I don't want it to have a tea flavor to it, not that they had any that I could drink. The prices are really decent. They serve breakfast as well. One of these days, I plan to stop back by to give it a try since it's right on the way to Gibbs Gardens. /SERVICE Folks are really friendly, both when taking the order and dropping off the food. I did enjoy the place. HOW TO READ MY REVIEWS: 1 Star - Does not approach edible. Enter at your own risk. 2 Stars - If I'm in the area, I'd pick something else. 3 Stars - I would stop by if I happen to be in the area. 4 Stars - I would pick this place out of other places nearby. 5 Stars - I would go out of my way to dine here.

Came here after a recommendation from my brother who said it was "the best BBQ you can get around here" and I wasn't disappointed. The inside and outside is decorated with fun memorabilia and other antiques. Ordered the BBQ pork and a side of fried pickles and both were really great. Pork was really moist and flavorful and was topped with some quality sauce. The cole slaw was okay, a bit too sweet for my taste but maybe fine for others. Fried pickles were awesome with a crunchy outside and a deliciously crisp inside. I judge my fried pickles by how well the batter sticks to the spear, and these were firmly coated with the stuff. I think my meal came out to be around $7, so the value for all this was awesome! I would definitely come back and try some of the other BBQ meats they offer (and definitely get a side of the fried pickles!).

Cool atmosphere but food was not good. Pork was dry and drowned in overly sweet sauce. Beans are from a can and slaw was boring. Very disappointing.

This little hole in the wall shack has some pretty decent BBQ. I don't even like BBQ very much, but it is my husband's favorite, so I have to endure it every now and then. I ordered the stuffed baked potato. I ordered it stuffed with beef BBQ. It was a huge plate of potato wedges covered with BBQ, cheese, and sour cream. It was greasy southern comfort food at its best. A sweet tea completed a perfect back road BBQ experience.

Following my standard practice of if it isn't a five star restaurant then it doesn't get five stars no matter what. I have been here four times and every time is was great, very consistent lunch/dinner weekday/weekend it was always good. The meat was quality, which is hard to do when slow cooking. The staff was great, joking about college's etc. The Q was excellent, not the best that I have had but the ambiance makes up for it. Nothing that I have had wasn't top quality. Cheers!

We recently relocated from the west coast to the Canton area and since the first day in Georgia we were looking for a local BBQ place. Well, we found it in Amos's BBQ. The ribs are the best I had in a longtime, the staff are very friendly and serviceable, the locale is very cozy, family inviting and with a home town flavor (do not expect a fancy environment, after all I never had any good hometown food in any fancy restaurant) and the atmosphere is like no other. So far we have visited Amos twice in the last week and we have no complains at all. Both times we ordered our food to be consume inside the premises because we enjoy the place and the people that work and frequent this great place. They also have a drive thru in case you are in a hurry, which by the way we have not used it yet. They serve breakfast and we will have to try their biscuits as Samantha recommended. We do recommend Amos for their great costumer service, awesome BBQ, great family environment and for the home like feel we witness every time we go there. Enjoy!

Classic hole-in-the-wall BBQ joint, which I like. Affordable, GOOD BBQ. No frills, just good smoky meat, tasty sides. Good place for takeout for a game or for a good lunch if you don;t mind sharing the table with your neighbor.

Went back with the family when they were in town over the holidays. Giving it a mark up to 4 stars, as the barbecue was on par with JD's this time. Good smoke flavor, beef brisket done to perfection, ribs were delicious, and their sides are still my favorite of all the barbecue joints I have been to here in Georgia. Will be glad to mark it up a 5th star after I go back a couple more times and consistently have this kind of barbecue. Consistency is big with me, so we will see what happens in the next update.

Excellent BBQ for a decent price. This hole-in-the-wall BBQ place is one of my favorite spots to get good BBQ from, when I can.
